TOTAL GYM INSIDE: DREAMS ARE WHAT YOU MAKE OF THEM

wedding 1Walt Disney once said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” I’ve found this to be true, but what he didn’t say is how much work goes into achieving a dream, something I know very well from experience and something I was recently reminded of.

Years ago, my daughter Shanan said “If I marry Nick it will be on Gili Meno.”

“Where I said?”

“Gili Meno. It’s just a two hour boat ride south of Bali.”

Well I’d heard of Bali, but Gile Meno? Turns out it’s a very small Indonesian island that you can walk around  in less than an hour.

A few years and a proposal later, my wife and I, joined by a few friends and family, watched as Shanan married Nick along the scenic shores of Gili Meno – the wedding she’d dreamed of.

You can imagine the amount of work that went into planning a wedding on such a remote island from our home base here in San Diego, but somehow we pulled it off, or more specifically, Shanan and my wife, Joy, pulled it off. From halfway around the world, and with the help of the fantastic Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, they managed to plan every detail from the flowers at the ceremony to the cake at the reception on Lombock island, a 15 minute boat ride from the ceremony.

photo 4What was once just a dream, became one of the most magnificent and memorable weddings I’ve ever attended.

Likewise, as I look back on almost 40 years in the fitness business, from the day when Total Gym was just a dream to where we stand today, a global leader in the industry, I can think of many, many people who dedicated their time and considerable talents to making Total Gym the success I  always knew it could be. From all the employees we’ve had over the years to national dealers and international distributors like, Perform Better, Patterson MedicalDynatronics , HQH fitness, Physical Company and Total Gym Germany and of course all of our customers – all I can say is Thank You for helping me reach my dream.

TUESDAY TESTIMONIAL: GRAVITY “LIVESTRONG” AT THE YMCA IN SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.

In November 2012, the Saratoga Regional YMCA kicked off its pilot session of the GRAVITY “LIVESTRONG at the YMCA” program. “LIVESTRONG at the YMCA” is a 12-week small group exercise program for adults affected by cancer, under the guidance of specially trained health and wellness staff, and offered at no cost.Saratoga GAVITY 2

“We welcomed six survivors to our program and within the first few classes, realized we wanted to keep the group together during class as often as possible, but with such varying ability and fitness levels, it was difficult to do.

One of our instructors asked the group one day if they’d be willing to try GRAVITY on our Total Gym machines and they jumped on the opportunity. After one 30-minute session on the machines they were sold – and so were we! Total Gym machines allowed all the survivors to participate in the same activities, at the same time while remaining at their own ability and comfort level.  GRAVITY quickly became a staple of the program and several of the survivors plan to continue GRAVITY classes at our facility post-program.” –  Melissa McCreary, Group Health & Wellness Director

Saratoga GRAVITY“GRAVITY makes me feel younger – it allows me to do so much more on the machine like jumping and leg work that I cannot normally do because of my feet and balance issues. It leveled the playing field for all of us survivors. We could all do the same activity at the same time. Not to mention, it’s fun!” – Mary (survivor)

“In addition to being a good time, it’s a great workout. My mastectomy and reconstruction rendered my upper body weak. However after a few sessions on the Total Gym machines, I was able to increase my range of motion and strength. It’s a great alternative to the basic nautilus machines and free weights.” – Tracey (survivor)

TUESDAY TESTIMONIAL: CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

A a global company, we work closely with a number of international distributors to deliver our world-class products and services to home consumers, commercial fitness professionals and health & wellness practitioners. It is our mission to ensure that everyone who we work with receives the highest level of service  and individual attention possible, not only from us but from our carefully selected team of distributors.

So we had to share this truly wonderful testimonial given to our Canadian dealer, STAK Fitness.

Thank you STAK Fitness, for continuing to provide the level of excellence we ourselves strive for everyday!

I want to let you know that I am impressed with the customer service and professionalism of everyone at Stak Fitness and Total Gym. It’s on rare occasion these days that businesses even care about customer satisfaction, never mind deliver on it, and it is rare to find businesses that are run with integrity and values. I have been very pleased with every aspect of my dealings with Stak Fitness and Total Gym since my first inquiries beginning in 2009 with Bonnie Lee, to meeting Roz in Toronto last summer, with Helen for the GRAVITY training and with you for setting up the training and for your assistance. The information on theTotal Gym website, the marketing help and materials, the GRAVITY DVD’s, instructor training videos on the website and even the GRAVITY training manual have all contributed immensely in making my addition of the Total Gyms a positive and rewarding experience.

I can’t thank all of you enough for that!

Thanks again.

“BACK IN THE SADDLE” WITH TOTAL GYM FOUNDER TOM CAMPANARO

The interesting thing about PAIN is that you learn to live with it.

For the past five years or so, I have been experiencing extreme pain in my left ankle. This goes back to my motor cycle accident when I was 16 and broke the left leg. I am sure the setting style back then in 1965 was not a technical as today.  The miss alignment I am sure has caused the issue over the years.

But for years the only potential solution was FUSION, which was just not an option for someone like me that likes to remain active. I knew from our involvement in the physical rehabilitation market that the ankle replacement was coming, so I just delayed and put up with the pain — which believe me — is no way to live.

Now, for the first time in years, I am finally PAIN FREE. Although I do not have full ankle mobility yet, my range of motion and strength are improving everyday and once the surgical wound heals and I can officially begin my ankle rehab – it’ll be back to action.

Yes off crutch’s and walking,  this wound healing take’s time , one more week and then real rehab!!

TUESDAY TESTIMONIAL: FIFTY AND FABULOUS

For the past 13 years, Paula Harvatine has found the time and motivation to workout on her Total Gym and we think her results speak for them self.

Read Paula’s story of success and find out how she incorporates Total Gym into her life.

“I’ve been using my Total Gym for 13 years and it’s my absolute favorite form of exercise. I enjoy it so much and it works! I used to work out on a Nordic Track and a stationary bike, but everything I was doing was aerobic exercise.  At that time I thought, “working out is working out”— it did not matter what you did.  But I was not doing any strength training and I was not seeing the results I wanted even though I was using them long- term on a regular basis.

My friend had a Total Gym and said she really saw a difference, so I bought one. I started out using it 4 – 5 times a week and in a short time I could see the results! Now I just do it 1-2 times a week, but I am able to maintain a fit physique and it’s fun!

Even after horrible injuries stemming from an assault three years ago left me with joint issues and ongoing pain from injuries, I can still get on my Total Gym and workout because of how it works; the mechanics of it. I can’t run because it’s too jarring on my injuries, but the Total Gym has helped me. I have to keep a tight core in order to be in less pain and working out on the Total Gym allows me to do just that. The Total Gym is so good at helping me focus on my core because every move you do on it requires you to keep your core engaged.

Raising two kids and running a business, it just wasn’t possible for me to get to a gym – I wanted to spend time with my family when I wasn’t working. Having the Total Gym has allowed me to do that and still stay in shape.  I put on some Backstreet Boys, hop on my Total Gym and get my ‘40-minutes of me time’ and I have a ball while I’m doing it!

My husband and son have even used the Total Gym after they saw the results I was getting. In fact, my son got many comments about his ‘six-pack’ abs when he was using the Total Gym and my husband often gets comments about how fit he is. It has truly made a difference for all of us.

I turned 50 this year and just the other day I overheard a woman talking about how the ‘belly roll’ just comes with being over 50 and I wanted to say ‘No it does not! Not with Total Gym!’

Basically, I love my Total Gym!”
